finally....

i love this photo.
it was taken years ago by the gotham gal when we were vacationing
in hualtuco, mexico with our families.
this photo is vintage sammy but it pretty much sums up how i think both sam and zoe feel right this very minute---
we're free, at last!!!
it's been a long, long winter.
hopefully we've seen the worst of it but ya never know.
it's officially spring break and even i feel relieved.
we are taking off for california on monday where we plan on looking at a couple of schools.
hopefully the sun will also be out and we can catch up on some much needed vitamin D.
We go from there to deer valley to ski and then on to Chicago to look at a couple of more schools.
i am not sure how much i will blog.
i'd love to just disconnect for a couple of weeks and relax.
see you april 4.

more birthday cards..

next week we take off for spring break so i've really been trying to come up with a bunch of birthday card directions.
i've been working with someone who is helping me redesign the whole card line so it feels like one voice, one brand.
i really feel we've got a lot of the categories covered except for birthday.
and with the sun out and temperatures in the 60's (thank you god) it's pretty hard to not get distracted.

um, yeah, we have VIP badges we just dropped them somewhere..

my friend susan and i went to the pete yorn/ben kweller concert on friday night at terminal 5.
we started off on the floor, with the 5,000 other people there.
after four or five songs we both looked at each other and knew we had to get into the VIP area where we could sit down.
it has sort of come to that.
so, we tried one entrance--nope.
at the next entrance the guard just let us through.
we barely had to do any groveling.
at first we just sat on the floor of the balcony. it was really the perfect view--although as you can see from this pic---through the legs of the woman standing in front of us.
who cares:
concert was great and it was a really fun night.

it's friday---yay...

i'm really not very good at anything before i've had my morning coffee.
which is why i like to wake up before everyone else and get the day going so that when everyone wanders
down to the kitchen i'm pleasant and making sense.
pretty bad but that's the way it is.
i'm back in new york and really looking forward to the weekend.
happy birthday elliott!

still thinking about mother's day...

um, and is this a problem?
truth-be-told this card was written by my daughter, sammy.
funny how kids think it's all about mom and dad.
and mom and dad think/know for absolute certainty it's all about the kids.
there must be some logic here but i don't know...
somehow i think this way of thinking is really healthy.
if our kids knew how much we really think about them and care about their well being
it would be pretty overwhelming....
better that they think they are not front and center.
probably gives them more room to grow and figure out who they are for themselves.

mother's day...

i'm in san diego right now visiting my sister who just had bunion surgery.
if you don't know what this is...that's a good thing.
she had the surgery december 17th and is only now getting up and around.
i was thrilled to accompany her on her first voyage back to the mall and starbucks.
i noticed many of the stores are already teeing up for mother's day so i thought i would too.
