more on girlfriends...

girlfriends, too...

it's beyond cliche to say friends...girlfriends.. are important.
so this week i'm going to write some cards that try to convey this message a bit more uniquely.

girlfriends...

we all have our ways of staying sane.
the afternoon cocktail.
a good gossip session with your best friend.
a highly coveted handbag at 70% off.
hey, whatever works.

i think it's spring....

nose itching---check.
eyes tearing---check.
throat scratchy--check.

yep, it's spring.

relationships...harder than ever...

online dating seems really hard.
first, you've got to meet someone online.
then there's all the witty banter you've got to write.
then you share photos. (or images that sort of resemble you).
then you decide whether or not to meet in person.
and then you meet.
or maybe not.

sort of...

some people are so prolific.
it's actually pretty impressive.
one of the people i follow is sarah silverman.
she must tweet in her sleep.
or she must have an extra hour or two in her day.
i prefer to meet my friends for a drink.
or two.

meet lola...my new spokeswoman...

i was shooting my mothers day cards to post on etsy and lola very willingly posed for me.
i tried to get her to pose with some of the other cards but she tired of the whole model thing pretty quickly.

spring...finally!!!

i really hate the winter.
it's always such a relief when the sun starts shining.
it's barely 60 here in nyc but you can just feel spring coming.
i can hardly wait.

my husband does not like this series.
he thinks it's all too depressing.
i couldn't disagree more.
yesterday, i was having lunch with my friend and when she told me i had food between my teeth, we both howled.
what is up with that?
why is it that when you hit a certain age, you've always got lunch in between your teeth.
or in your hair.
or on your chin.
all you can do is laugh.

i have reading glasses all over my house.
next to my bed.
in the kitchen.
in most of my handbags.
and somehow i can never find a pair.
unless i look in the mirror.

wrinkled knees.

you finally get a little respect from the guys.

enjoy the fog.
there's something to be said for living in your own private idaho.

i've been spending the morning thinking about this concept and it seems pretty rich.
there's so many degrees of old.
there's actually old...like people that are really, really up in the years.
and they are super cool.
and then there's the rest of us.
those of us that are actually not anywhere near old but every now and then see glimpses of what's coming.
like a little gray hair.
a little trouble seeing.
wrinkling knees.
i can hardly wait for what's next.

but it's mother's day, so hey, i'm not going to over think it.

coffee was sammy's first word.
starbucks was zoe's.
i just love coffee.
especially the first cup in the morning.
it's just a really perfect time of the day.
as much as i love my kids and would do absolutely anything for them....
first they gotta let me get through the new york times
and my first cup of coffee.
then, i'm good to go.

mother's day

something really amazing happens when you become a mom.
in addition to becoming wise and all knowing you are able to perform tasks other family members can't.
like replacing an empty roll of toilet paper.
transfering dishes from the sink to the dishwasher.
placing clothes in the hamper.
i know, i know.
it's crazy but true.

last day of spring break...

does the sun make you stupid?
it's been a great week of sleeping late, reading and generally not doing much.
but if i don't get back to nyc soon, i won't be able to put a sentence together.
where are you?
hey, that's a sentence.

spring break

i often think the most when i'm on vacation.
(there should be a rule against this.)
without the distraction of day-to-day life
i can't help but focus on all the brain lint.
this card is simple
but sort of poses the right question.
at least for me.
