while everyone in the world was evacuating and filling their bathtubs with water, we were at the tennis club.

one thing for sure...it was a lot more interesting than watching the weather channel.

jimmy and zoe played a great, exciting match winning 2-6. 6-3, 6-2.

now they're in the finals.

it's just no one knows when that will be!

hurricane irene will have to wait....

because jimmy and zoe are still in the mixed doubles championship.

this afternoon they beat the #1 seeds so now they're in the semi finals.

which will be played tomorrow (saturday) at 11.

so, there's no time for this hurricane or whatever.

we're in the middle of a tennis tournament.

zoe had a great summer interning for chuck schumer.

i don't know whether it convinced her to go into politics but it got her thinking about the governing process.

at the end of the summer, the senator sat down with all the interns and talked to them about their future plans and goals.

i love that.

he's got my vote.

we're getting to the finish line here.

officially we've got like 10 days left of summer.

and another seven days till school starts.

thank goodness because we need that extra week to turn our brains on, buy some notebooks, get some new clothes.

and i guess prepare for this hurricane that's heading our way.

what a finale that would be.

geez, it's not easy writing this blog.

i am constantly seeking inspiration from anywhere i can.

and as you can see today....i am really reaching.

i was on my morning walk and everything seemed so beautiful.

so, i took these pictures with my blackberry camera....

they don't really do justice to what it really looked like at 7 am on main street.

i guess you'll just have to take my word for it.

peaches may be $5. and maseratis may be ubiquitous but it's still one of the most beautiful places.

dinner for 25...no problem....

friday night was great.

everything worked out...i guess it always does.

after dinner we played a fairly loud and competitive game of salad bowl.

suffice to say...two days later i am still hoarse.

at least the flowers will be pretty...

25 people coming for dinner in 45 minutes.

this is going to be a very short blog post.

engagement cards...

so, i'm at the beach by myself and i'm thinking about engagement cards.

there must be something to this although i don't know what.

book club napkins...

are you in a book club?

i wish i were but i've never found one that works for me which is weird because i really love to read.

i've tried...believe me...but the convo always turns to husbands and children which is riveting but not my thing in a group setting. i can't seem to find the book club that's about the books.

sammy finished up her internship at moma on friday.

i thought it was so fitting that on one of her last days at work she shared this passage with me.

whether or not she does anything with art remains to be seen.

but one thing is for sure: she loves it.

this is one of those cards that i really can't explain.

it just hits me as funny.

i was going to opine on world events...

but really what is there to say but everything and everyone is losing it.

insane markets and even crazier people.

so i just decided to blog something totally superficial.

enjoy the reprieve from reality.

um, what's with all the fall clothes in the stores?

if you had to buy a t-shirt or pair of shorts you'd be out of luck.

according to my calendar there's still a lot of summer left.

i guess if the retail gods have their way we will all be in down jackets by the end of september.

summer sunday's

nothing's better than a sunday evening with nothing to do and nowhere to go.

quarterfinals, check.

for years i've watched zoe play tournaments and jimmy play tournaments.

but last weekend i got to watch jimmy and zoe play together in the club mixed doubles tournament.

the match started off slow. zoe and jimmy were down 1-3. then the conference took place. i found out afterwards they talked about adjusting since what they were initially doing wasn't working. and then like that the game turned. they won the first set 6-3 and the second set 6-0. it was pretty exciting. they were both on fire, playing like a well oiled team.

and then it dawned on me that they are a well oiled team. they've been playing tennis together for over five years. they know each other's games inside and out. they know each other inside out.

in the next round they play the top seed---i guess that's what you would call the luck of the draw. win or lose it's going to be a good match. this team is not going down easily.

it's almost friday..

this has been a looooooong week.

i don't know why. i actually got some exciting (work) news so you would think that would make the week fly but nope.

looking forward to the weekend.

i admit i haven't seen an entire episode but it doesn't take long to get the gist:

beautiful family with a lot of money and free time.

that doesn't sound bad---i could go with that.

it just seems like chasing nba stars and attending club openings could get pretty dull pretty fast.

not that i would know.
